Say Hello to Suzannah Safi!

Welcome to Friday! Not only is January is almost done, but two weeks have already elapsed since the release of my debut novel, NO MATTER WHY!  Where does the time go? Busy as always but looking forward to so many wonderful things, beginning with the final match of this year’s Australian Open tennis! I’ll be in front of my TV at 3:30 AM Sunday to catch all the action. So disappointed, though: I was really looking for Rafa to take his second straight Down Under, but he was bounced in the quarterfinals. A special hello to all my Aussie cousins, too—especially Kate, who will most likely be watching too!

Just for fun:

12/12/02–the day I met Donny after a 2-1/2-hour stint in line with the groupies at Costco!  (I was happy!)

Okay, back to the blog :)!  A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting and being showcased at Suzannah Safi’s very lilac, very lovely Romance Alley, where her passion for promoting authors simply pours onto the virtual pages. Today, she joins us! Contemporary and paranormal romances are her specialty; sit back and enjoy as she shares about her ride on the author express!

Tell me about your writing roots: what got you started and what gave you the confidence to persevere? From a young age my brain was occupied with stories, many bugged me and the only way to rest my brain was to write them down. Didn’t know I had it in me till one day I searched for authors and began to see where I belonged. I was a story teller; many had told me so. I started writing, and what kept me going were the stories that haunted me, one after the other. I have passion for romance writing and the joy it brings me is something that even words fail to describe.

How does your writing impact other aspects of your life? Writing changed my life in so many ways. Believe it or not, despite that writing demands many hours and lots of hard work, writing still relaxes me and elevates my soul to beautiful worlds and magical havens. Writing romance made me see how love makes us more peaceful and hopeful, most of all, happy.

Talk about current, past and future projects, upcoming releases, maybe your ‘dream novel’?

Worth Every Breath is a contemporary romance available from

This Time You Are Mine is a paranormal romance available from

I’m offering a free short story ‘Behind a Closed Heart.’ Although a sad story, the reason I wrote it was so interesting, inspired by one man I saw in a diner. Knowing the reason behind his sadness touched my heart and inspired the story to end in a creative way meant for him to have the peace he sought in his life. The story is fiction from my imagination, but part of it is true.

My new contemporary short story ‘Beyond a Planned Fantasy’ is coming in May 2010 from Pink Petal books. At this time it is in the editing stage with my wonderful editor.

I’m working on a few more novels: contemporary romance, paranormal romance, and paranormal series; the latter is a huge project I’m working on right now.

Please tell our readers how you juggle work (other than writing, assuming you work ‘outside the home,), time to write and all that goes along with it, especially as a published author (i.e., promo, etc).  I do work and devote all my working hours to my job. At home I use every minute of my day carefully. I promote myself and authors. That takes lots of time, but I enjoy doing it; visit my promo site at

I’m also a designer and an artist. I design book trailers for authors. Check those out at

As for my writing, I do what I have to do to write because writing brings me joy and relaxes me. It’s like when you go on an adventure, or an exciting vacation. It’s like riding a roller coaster; the rush I get from writing can’t compare it to any joy.

Please share the three ways you find most effective to promote your work!  (1) Be creative to stand out; (2)  Use all your resources. Be out there: network, blog, share a free story or two; (3)  I found that book trailers can help you, or hurt you, so be careful when you make one. If you can’t afford a professional to do them, then check my Tip/Article on how to create a successful book trailer on Romance Alley blog.
